In late March of 2007 an ominous storm rolled into Southeastern Colorado. It fully engulfed the eastern sky as it made its way north. I stood in the front yard photographing the lightning as it danced in and out of the black clouds. Marveling at its beauty, I had no idea that the storm had spawned a six hundred foot wide tornado. With out warning it was devastating the small town of Holly, twenty-eight miles away. In the days that followed my wife and I, along with countless others volunteered with the Red Cross to serve meals to those affected by the storm. That was when I decided to create this piece, capturing the beauty and the destructive force of a tornado. |
